Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans, PSL 2021
Lahore Qalandars, venturing to go one better than last season’s runners-up spot, bid to extend their winning start to 3 consecutive matches when they take on Multan Sultans in the 2021 Pakistan Super League. The match will take place at Karachi’s National Stadium on February 26, and the live action starts at 15:00 local time.
Qalandars have been in excellent form so far. Shaheen Afridi’s fiery bowling helped them beat Peshawar Zalmi by four wickets first up before a nine-wicket win against Quetta Gladiators last time out. Fakhar Zaman hit 82* from 52 balls as they chased 179 in just 18.2 overs in a dominant performance.
It is in firm contrast to Multan Sultans, who have now lost both the matches. They could not defend 150/8 against Islamabad United and came up short despite posting 193/4 against Peshawar Zalmi in the last match.

Lahore Qalandars Team News & Playing 11
LQ Team News
Haris Rauf returned last time out, but Dilbar Hussain has been ruled out. Ahmed Daniyal bowled well in the last T20, and it could be an unchanged Qalandars pace attack on Multan Sultans. The spin department must change following Rashid Khan’s departure to play for Afghanistan.
LQ Key Players
- Shaheen Afridi: After his excellent spell in the first game, he was more expensive at the death last time out but still picked up another early wicket.
- Mohammad Hafeez: Anchored the chase in the first match with 33* and then continued his excellent batting form with a stinging 73* from 33 balls last time.
- Fakhar Zaman: Top-scored last time out to show why he is still so revered at the top of the batting order too.
LQ Team Form
After a sluggish start, Lahore Qalandars reached 143/6 to beat Peshawar Zalmi in the first match. There was nothing sluggish about their superb chase to beat Quetta Gladiators last time out, however. Haris Rauf took 3-38, but some late runs meant they were set 179 to win. Fakhar Zaman (82*) and Mohammad Hafeez (73*) ensured they sealed a nine-wicket win with ten balls to spare.
Lahore Qalandars Predicted Playing 11
Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar (c), Mohammad Hafeez, Joe Denly, Ben Dunk (wk), Samit Patel, David Wiese, Shaheen Afridi, Ahmed Daniyal, Haris Rauf.
Multan Sultans Team News & Playing 11
MS Team News
James Vince’s fine form continued last time out, and there is definitely a case for promoting him ahead of Chris Lynn in the batting order. Shahnawaz Dhani and Usman Qadir came into the team and has taken three wickets between them; they could retain their place Usman Qadir in particular, as he kept things tidy.
MS Key Players
- James Vince: After his BBL-winning form for Sydney Sixers in Australia, the Englishman continued with an excellent 84 from 55 balls last time out in PSL 2021.
- Mohammad Rizwan: In excellent form for Pakistan, he has started this tournament with 71 and 41 to continue that purple patch.
- Sohail Tanvir: Multan Sultans need somebody to step up and sort their death bowling, and a return to form for Tanvir could be key in guiding that.
MS Team Form
Multan Sultans ended the last tournament with three defeats – missing out on the final despite finishing top of the group – and they have started this one with two losses. Both times they have been well placed but lost it late on. Mohammad Rizwan hit 71 out of 150/8 against Islamabad United, but a late onslaught saw them lose by three wickets. Last time out meanwhile, James Vince smashed 84 in a total of 193/4 against Peshawar Zalmi, but Zalmi scored 37 runs from 12 balls at the end to win by six wickets with an over to spare.

After contrasting starts to the tournament, Lahore Qalandars are favorites to beat Multan Sultans.
Lahore Qalandars are comfortable favorites to win this match against winless Multan Sultans, as they look to make it three wins in a row at the start of the 2021 PSL. Lahore Qalandars are in excellent form at the start of this tournament, while Multan Sultans have struggled with their death bowling. The toss could be key, but there is no doubt the Qalandars go into this fixture as the favorites.
Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans Top Team Batsmen
Mohammad Hafeez has started the tournament in fine form, but Fakhar Zaman is still the favorite to be Lahore Qalandars top team batsman after his excellent batting last time out. James Vince was a Multan Sultans top team batsman last T20, but Mohammad Rizwan is still a favorite with his form in the last few months. For Multan Sultans, Chris Lynn, who has not yet fired at the top of the order after two matches, is also a contender.
Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans Top Team Bowlers
With Rashid Khan now on international duty, Shaheen Afridi would be the favorite Lahore Qalandars top team bowler. For Multan Sultans, Sohail Tanvir needs form, but he is among the favorites if he finds it.
Shaheen Afridi took three wickets in the first game and followed it up with another last time out. Haris Rauf outbowled his last time out and is another good option, but Afridi is hard to ignore. Shahid Afridi is among the favorites for Multan Sultans, and Usman Qadir’s tidy bowling makes him worth a look too, but Sohail Tanvir has the potential to lead their pace attack once again.
Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans Match Prediction
Lahore Qalandars have won two so far, and Multan Sultans have lost two. On form alone, Lahore is the comfortable favorite.
