The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has provisionally suspended two former Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) officials, Md. Abdul Kayum Rashed and Md. Amin Khan, after charging them with multiple breaches of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. The charges relate to conduct during the 11th (2024-25) and 12th (2025-26) editions of the tournament.
Md. Abdul Kayum Rashed faces four counts, including Article 2.1.1 (match-fixing) and Article 2.4.4 (failing to report corrupt approaches). He is also charged under Articles 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 for non-cooperation and obstruction of the investigation. The BCB Integrity Unit’s focus on Article 2.4.7 follows the reported refusal of individuals to hand over mobile devices for forensic audit.
Md. Amin Khan, who held administrative roles with the Durbar Rajshahi and Chattogram Royals franchises, is charged with four counts, including Article 2.1.4 (soliciting or inducing fixing) and Article 2.1.1 (direct fixing). The investigation has scrutinised his attempts to recruit other participants into corrupt activities during his tenure with the franchises.
The enforcement of these charges follows the hardline stance taken by BCB President Tamim Iqbal, who has halted all upcoming BPL editions until financial discrepancies and integrity risks are resolved. Tamim emphasized the board’s commitment to immediate action once evidence was secured.
“If we wanted to, we could have dragged this thing for another two or three months. But the only thing our board said was that if we have enough evidence — execute,” Tamim stated regarding the investigation’s progress.
The probe into the BPL has formally implicated nine individuals, including players and officials, since May 2026. Alex Marshall, the head of the anti-corruption drive, indicated that further developments are expected as several files remain open. “Some more cases are still under investigation. You may see further charges in the coming days,” Marshall noted.
The two officials have been given a 14-day window to respond to the allegations, with the formal deadline set for October 1, 2026. The BPL remains suspended indefinitely while the BCB continues its audit of systemic vulnerabilities within the league’s franchise structure.
