Tasmania defeated Western Australia by nine wickets at the WACA Ground, reaching a 116-run target in just 16.2 overs. Riley Meredith produced a career-best spell of 4 for 11 to anchor the victory in Match 3 of the One-Day Cup.
Meredith was named Player of the Match for his eight-over performance, which included three maidens. The fast bowler utilized the Perth surface to dismantle the hosts’ top order as Western Australia were bowled out for 115 in 30.2 overs.
The result marked Western Australia’s second major batting collapse in three days, following a similar struggle against South Australia. Test all-rounder Beau Webster claimed 3 for 31 with the ball to prevent a middle-order recovery before contributing to the run chase.
Mitchell Owen led the response for the Tigers, scoring 43 off 29 balls. He shared a 76-run opening stand with Caleb Jewell before being caught by Cameron Bancroft off the bowling of Sam Couch. Jewell remained 41 not out, while Webster finished on 26* to end the match with 202 balls to spare.
A CREX match report described the performance as “a hammering of all sorts from Tasmania,” noting that the visitors “come to Perth and robbed the hosts with some high-quality displays of skill.”
The margin of victory improves Tasmania’s net run rate early in the 2026-27 season. Western Australia competed without international regulars Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green, who were absent from the lineup.
