Antigua and Barbuda Falcons secured their first Caribbean Premier League title on September 20, 2026, defeating the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. The Falcons chased down a target of 171 in 16.4 overs, finishing the match with 20 balls to spare.
The Kingsmen innings was highlighted by Maaz Sadaqat, who scored 114 off 58 balls, including eight fours and nine sixes. Sadaqat became the first player in history to score a century in a CPL final, surpassing the previous high score of 84 not out. However, his performance was met by a significant middle-order collapse where Jamaica lost four wickets for three runs.
Sufyan Moqim was the primary architect of the collapse, finishing with bowling figures of 4 for 14. Following the match, Moqim dedicated his performance to Falcons mentor Curtly Ambrose. “I am dedicating this award to our legend Curtly Ambrose as he will be celebrating his 63rd birthday in a few hours,” Moqim said.
The Falcons completed the chase through an unbeaten 89-run partnership between Amir Jangoo and Hasan Nawaz. Jangoo finished on 57 not out, while Nawaz contributed 47 not out to secure the championship for the franchise in its third season.
Shadab Khan was named Player of the Tournament for the 2026 season. He concluded the campaign with 132 runs at a strike rate of 227.58 and took 11 wickets with an economy rate of 4.89. “I was struggling for the last couple of years, so I needed that type of performance. And hopefully from here I get a proper rhythm and confidence,” Shadab said regarding his tournament form.
Jamaica Kingsmen captain Rovman Powell expressed disappointment with his side’s batting performance on what he described as a favorable surface. “It is quite disappointing as a batting side on a batting pitch that we couldn’t utilize this. I think as a batting side, we lost 4 wickets in the middle overs,” Powell stated. The Kingsmen finished as runners-up in their first season since replacing the former Jamaica Tallawahs franchise.
