Antigua & Barbuda Falcons secured their first Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title on September 20, 2026, defeating the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in the final at Kensington Oval. The Falcons reached 173/2 in 16.4 overs to surpass the Kingsmen’s total of 170/9.
Hasan Nawaz led the run chase for the Falcons, scoring 76 runs from 48 balls. His performance ensured the team achieved the target with 20 balls remaining. Earlier, the Jamaica Kingsmen were restricted to 170/9 in their 20 overs, with Sufyan Moqim taking four wickets to disrupt the middle order.
Following the match, captain Moeen Ali noted the team’s progression throughout the competition. “We’ve just got better and better as the tournament’s gone on,” Ali said. Analysts have characterized the Falcons’ championship victory as a ‘heist,’ suggesting the team reached its peak performance during the final matches despite not being pre-tournament favorites.
Ali also addressed the team’s status during the post-match presentation. “Not many gave us a chance,” he said, attributing the successful campaign to squad depth. “I think the biggest difference was the players that came in and out for a couple of injuries in between.”
During the trophy celebrations, Ali displayed a “Free Palestine Always” message. According to the LA Cricket Times, the gesture echoed the captain’s 2014 ICC wristband controversy. The victory concludes the 2026 CPL season with the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons established as first-time champions.
