Another of those products of the Sydney Grade competitions, Ryan had a fantastic amateur season on 2015-16 and that paved the way for higher opportunities. He was selected to play for New South Wales Blues in Matador BBQs One Day Cup at the start of the season before being dropped as the Australian internationals were available for selection in 2015-16.
