Bangladesh will be the first ICC Full Member to visit Nepal for a dedicated bilateral series in March 2027. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) officially confirmed a three-match T20I series to be held at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
The matches are scheduled for March 26, 28, and 30, 2027. Although the two teams met during the T20 World Cups in 2014 and 2024, this tour represents their first-ever bilateral encounter. The series was finalized following diplomatic discussions involving the Nepal Ambassador and the State Minister for Youth and Sports.
The tour is dedicated to supporting victims of recent floods in Nepal. The BCB confirmed that revenue from the series will be allocated to relief and recovery efforts. “The three matches will provide an opportunity for Bangladesh and Nepal to come together through cricket and convey a message of friendship and solidarity at a time of great loss,” the BCB stated in its official confirmation.
Scheduling the tour required identifying a gap within the Future Tours Programme. BCB operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees previously noted that the board was attempting to “positively choose a convenient time within this cycle” to facilitate the historic visit.
In addition to the T20I matches, the agreement establishes a long-term partnership between the two boards. The BCB has committed to supporting Nepal’s women’s, age-group, and High Performance programs. This cooperation includes technical assistance and future ‘A’ team tours to aid Nepal’s cricketing development.
While specific squad details will be confirmed closer to the series, the matches at the Kathmandu venue mark a significant milestone for Nepalese cricket as it hosts a Test-playing neighbor for a standalone bilateral series.
