Title rivals Somerset saw their mathematical hopes disappear at The Oval on Friday morning. By failing to secure a third bowling bonus point against Surrey, who reached 422, Somerset can no longer overtake Warwickshire if the leaders secure at least a draw in Birmingham.
Leicestershire face a 137-run deficit with seven wickets remaining in their second innings. The visitors are also contending with the fallout of a 27-point deduction following a ‘poor’ pitch rating at Grace Road in August.
