India A Women reached 351 for 9 at stumps on Day 1 of the one-off unofficial Test against Australia A at the IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali. Fifties from Tanisha Singh, Niki Prasad, and Shubha Satheesh recovered the innings following a middle-order slump.
Tanisha Singh top-scored for the hosts, making 92 runs from 166 balls with 12 fours. She shared an 82-run stand for the fifth wicket with Anushka Sharma to stabilize the score after India A lost four wickets for 18 runs. Tanisha’s innings ended late in the day when she was dismissed lbw by Tess Flintoff.
Niki Prasad remains unbeaten on 78 off 99 balls, having struck 11 boundaries and two sixes. Her resistance ensured India A utilized the full 100 overs of the opening day. The fixture was moved to Mohali from Dharamsala earlier this month after prolonged rainfall affected the outfield at the original venue.
The day began with a 102-run opening partnership between Shubha Satheesh and Priya Punia. Satheesh scored 59 off 117 balls, while Punia contributed 46 before the Australian spinners found breakthroughs. Charli Knott was the most successful bowler for the visitors, returning figures of 3 for 82 in 24 overs. Lilly Mills provided significant volume, bowling 31 overs to finish with 3 for 94.
This four-day match is the final leg of the multi-format tour. Australia A previously swept the T20I series 3-0, while India A secured the ODI series 2-1. Play will resume on Day 2 with India A having one wicket in hand.
