Alexa Stonehouse has signed a permanent two-year contract with Warwickshire (Bears Women), securing her future at Edgbaston through the 2028 season. The left-arm seamer moves permanently after Surrey agreed to an early release from her existing multi-year deal.
The 19-year-old spent the 2026 season on loan with the Bears, where she established herself as an opening bowler. She finished the campaign with 16 wickets in 17 appearances, including 13 wickets in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. Stonehouse was previously a member of the Surrey side that won the 2025 Vitality Blast.
Warwickshire head coach Ali Maiden said: “Alexa has been a breath of fresh air since joining on loan at the start of this season, so to make the move a permanent one is great news for us.”
The signing comes as Warwickshire restructures its squad following several senior departures. Former captain Georgia Davis moved to Glamorgan after a period on gardening leave, while Em Arlott has joined Yorkshire. Katie George led the side as interim captain during the 2026 season as the club secured extensions for eight other domestic players, including Davina Perrin and Meg Austin.
Stonehouse, who is part of the England Pace Bowling Performance Programme, confirmed her commitment to the new setup. “I’m delighted to be joining Warwickshire permanently after spending the 2026 season here on loan,” she said. The new contract formally covers the 2027 and 2028 domestic seasons.
