Andre Russel played 46 matches across five major T20 cricketing leagues. During these, Russell scored 1080 runs at a strike rate of 182, hitting 101 sixes. With the ball, he picked 43 wickets and took 23 catches in the outfield this was enough to call him the T20 Cricketer Of 2019 By Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.
Last year in IPL, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders scored 510 runs and taking 11 wickets and won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
The Jamaican revealed that ever since he got banned in the anti-doping case for a year between 2017 and 2018, that changed his mindset, and he worked hard on his physical fitness to become leaner and muscular.
“I changed my mentality since I got banned. I was slacking off. I was big. I was lazy. I wasn’t practicing hard. I came back stronger, leaner, more muscular. I’m hitting the ball effortlessly for six.” Russell stated, as quoted by Wisden.
