Experienced all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez believes the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should take responsibility for delaying PSL season 6 rather than blaming the breaches on just one person. Hafeez who played for Lahore Qalandars in PSL 6, dig at PCB for not maintaining a strict Biosecure Bubble.
Dr. Sohail Saleem, PCB’s head of medical and sports sciences, resigned after the board was scrutinized over holes in the biosecurity bubble.
“This is a very unfortunate scenario as a Pakistani and as a cricketer. We’ve all played our part in bringing cricket back to Pakistan. You could call it mismanagement or a bad plan, but I believe it happened. Just as people take credit for small things, you also have to take responsibility for such a big incident. It’s not good to blame the whole thing on just one person,” Hafeez said in an interview on a YouTube channel.
“We have to understand that our reputation has taken a big hit. Personally, I’m sorry, because it shouldn’t have happened. I hope it’s planned and better managed from here, so nothing like this happens to Pakistan anymore,” he added.
PCB has appointed an independent panel to conduct a holistic and detailed review of the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for HBL Pakistan Super League 2021, identify any gaps, and advise on the reasons why the biosecurity environment has not been covid-free.
The panel will submit its conclusions and recommendations to PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani by March 31.
