It was inevitable – – There was some heavy overnight rain and it continued onto this morning. We did have the toss, but it started to rain just when the game was to start. That rain never stopped, it wasn't very heavy, but it consistently poured and gave the groundstaff no chance. So, the series stays at 1-0 and we'll be back weather permitting on Monday for the final ODI. West Indies can't win the series now, but can they level it? Do join us for all the action on Monday. For now, cheers and bye..
There's a slight drizzle in the background, but it didn't stop the toss and it isn't heavy enough to stop the players from warming-up.
If there's no more rain, the toss will be held at and play will start at
Sri Lanka delivered a complete performance in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series at the Sabina Park. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis made half-centuries while useful forties from Charith Asalanka and Janith Liyanage helped them go past the 300-run mark. The hosts were spirited in their reply, but they were stalled by spin. Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana then combined to finish with 3 for 69 from 20 overs, ensuring that the hosts came nowhere near the target. Time is running out for the West Indies as they seek an automatic place in the 2027 Cricket World Cup. They are currently placed 10th and only the top-8 will join co-hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe with automatic places. Having seen West Indies struggle against spin in the 1st ODI, will Sri Lanka be tempted at bolstering it with the inclusion of Dunith Wellalage? Can West Indies show better application today? Toss and team sheets coming up shortly..

14:02 Local Time, 19:02 GMT, 00:32 IST: There was some rain around in the morning, it's not raining at the moment, but they're some ominous clouds in the back-ground. Plenty of water on the covers and the groundstaff are using sponges and a tray-bucket to remove them from the playing surface. The 4th umpire is overseeing proceedings while the two onfield umpires have had a look. Toss though has been delayed

No news from the ground and we've already lost three hours. The drainage facility here is pretty decent, but a lot of rain has fallen and the groundstaff will need plenty of time to get the ground ready once the rain stops completely.
Some live pictures, it's still drizzling and it's pretty heavy as well. Plenty of water on the covers and we continue to wait patiently. It's dark and damp – the floodlights have already taken full effect.
No change in the conditions, but we have started to lose overs. The forecast called for a few showers during the day. Hopefully, we will share better news in our next update.
It's still raining and there's hardly any activity from the groundstaff. We've lost 55 minutes already and aren't too far away from starting to lose overs
: The conditions could be tough, we need to play well in the powerplay overs. One change: Eshan Malinga replaces Asitha Fernando. We have our plans and that's why Malinga is in. We want to win the series today, just do the basics well as a team.
– We will bowl first. With the overhead, I'm not sure what will happen in the back-end. One change: Forde misses out with an injury and Jangoo comes in. We still have options; 3 quicks and Greaves can do a job as well. So happy with our choice.
