Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators, PSL 2021
Last season’s runners-up, Lahore Qalandars, will bid for a second win in as many games at the start of the 2021 Pakistan Super League when they take on Quetta Gladiators. The two teams meet at the National Stadium, Karachi, on February 22, and the live-action starts at 19:00 local time.
The Qalandars, who lost to Multan Sultans in last season’s final, had Shaheen Afridi to thank for their opening win against Peshawar Zalmi. In a fiery bowling spell, Afridi took 3-14 to restrict Peshawar Zalmi to 140/6, and the Qalandars claimed a four-wicket win with nine balls to spare.
Afridi should be relishing the chance to now take on a fragile Quetta Gladiators’ batting line-up, bowled out for just 121 in their opening game. They suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Karachi Kings, with the defending champions only requiring 13.5 overs to get home despite Mohammad Hasnain’s 2-18.

Lahore Qalandars Team News & Playing 11

Haris Rauf’s absence is a blow for Lahore Qalandars, who were also without Dilbar Hussain last time out. Salman Mirza took two wickets, while Ahmed Daniyal bowled rapidly but was expensive. Both could keep their places in the starting XI.

- Shaheen Afridi: Last season’s top wicket-taker moved straight to the top of this season’s charts too as he claimed 3-14 last time out.
- Mohammad Hafeez: The veteran anchored the Qalandars’ chase last time out, scoring 33* from 26 balls.
LQ Team Form

QG Team News
Chris Gayle was at number three last time out, with Sarfaraz Ahmed partnering Tom Banton at the top of the order. Though it did not pay off last time out, Gayle has definitely found his position at three and could continue there.
QG Key Players
- Tom Banton: Only lasted three balls last time out, but he will be dangerous at the top of the order if he fires, as his strike rate shows.
- Mohammad Hasnain: In a losing cause last time out, he still showcased some excellent bowling up the order as he claimed 2-18 from his four overs.
- Chris Gayle: The veteran West Indian showed his recent resurgent form has not yet ended as he hit 39 from 24 balls last time out.
QG Team Form

Who will win Today Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators?
- Lahore Qalandars will look to make it two wins from two when they take on Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League.
- The Qalandars chased 141 to beat Peshawar Zalmi by four wickets last time out, after Shaheen Afridi’s excellent 3-14.
- Quetta started with a defeat, meanwhile, after they were carted for just 121 on their way to a seven-wicket loss to Karachi Kings.
Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators Top Team Batsmen
Lahore Qalandars had Mohammad Hafeez to thank for their win last time out, as he anchored the chase. Captain Sohail Akhtar and Fakhar Zaman were at the top of the order, while Ben Dunk is key in the middle order. Zaman is favorite to be their top team batsman.
After showing his form again last time out, Chris Gayle is favorite to be Quetta Gladiators’ top team batsman for a second consecutive match. Opening pair Tom Banton and Sarfaraz Ahmed are other options to consider.
Fakhar Zaman is favorite to be Lahore Qalandars at the top of their batting order, but Mohammad Hafeez was a top team batsman last time out and could be worth backing again. They also have Sohail Akhtar up the order. Rashid Khan is an outsider, but his form last time out was a reminder that he is more than just a bowler.
For Quetta Gladiators, meanwhile, Chris Gayle was the top team batsman in their opening game and is favorite to do so again in this match. Opening pair Tom Banton and Sarfaraz Ahmed are next on the list.
Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators Top Team Bowlers
After his outstanding bowling last time out, Shaheen Afridi is now favorite to be Lahore Qalandars’ top team bowler, ahead of Rashid Khan. With Haris Rauf and Dilbar Hussain unavailable, Salman Mirza took two wickets last time out too.
Mohammad Hasnain was Quetta’s top team bowler, meanwhile, and he is the favorite to claim that title again, ahead of Usman Shinwari.
Shaheen Afridi’s price has dropped a lot since he claimed the top team bowler tag in the first match. He is now favorite, but Rashid Khan also bowled well last time out and Salman Mirza claimed two wickets so it is not as straight-forward as it may look.
The opposite is true for Quetta Gladiators’ top team bowler, looking at Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling form last time out. He could merit a shorter price as he flew the alone flag in reply to their poor batting performance last time out.
Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators Match Prediction
Lahore Qalandars are favorites to beat Quetta Gladiators after a good start to the tournament on the opening weekend.
