England Test opener Rory Burns received a call from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officials after the opener was involved in a Twitter spat with women’s team left-arm spinner Alex Hartley.
“Team management here in India has spoken to Rory,” an ECB spokesman confirmed to ESPNcricinfo.
After the men’s team’s 10-wicket defeat to India in the third Test in Ahmedabad on Thursday, Hartley had tweeted that it was fun for the men’s team to complete the procedure before the women’s team played Against New Zealand.
Burns, clearly not shocked by Hartley’s tweet, replied, saying: Very disappointing attitude given all the boys are doing to support the women’s game. However, the tweet was later deleted.

Hartley posted another tweet Friday, making it clear that her earlier tweet had not gone in the right direction.

Men’s team head coach Chris Silverwood chose not to get caught up in the issue.
“It’s not for me to judge on that one. That will be dealt with back in England, obviously. For me, I don’t worry about things like that.”
“I’ve got more on my plate this end to worry about. That’s what I’ll be encouraging the boys to do as well: keep their head in what’s happening here,” he said.
The 4th and final Test of the series begins in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
