Saurashtra acquired their maiden Ranji Trophy title after edging Bengal outside lead at Rajkot on Friday on Day 5 of their closing in the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The captains of the sides chose to shake hands, with Saurashtra leading in hand. Bengal, resuming for 6, dropped their last 4 wickets for 27 runs.
I still recall my words (past year) and I recall telling you the new cricket we’re playing will last for a couple more years and we’ll win the title sooner than after. We have won the trophy for the first time in 73 decades and I could not be more happy,” Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat.
