The bilateral relation between India and Pakistan might be at an all-time low. Still, former Pakistan fast- bowler Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his desire to coach Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. The BCCI has not allowed the Pakistan players to play in the league after the inaugural season in 2008 because of the poor relationship between the two countries.
In the inaugural season, Shoaib Akhtar had played for Kolkata Knight Riders. The famous pacer carved a place in the IPL folklore with a stunning performance against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) on his IPL debut. He picked up four wickets for just 11 runs to fire the Knight Riders to a stunning win.
Shoaib Akhtar has now expressed his desire to wear the coach’s hat for the Kolkata based outfit. Not only that, but the Pakistan great also said that he would accept the role of India’s bowling coach if an offer is made to him.
“I will definitely. My job is to spread knowledge. What I have learned is knowledge, and I will spread it. I will produce more aggressive, fast, and more talkative bowlers than the current ones who will tell-off the batsmen in a way that you will enjoy a lot,” stated Shoaib Akhtar in his latest interview on social networking app ‘Helo.’
Well, Shoaib Akhtar getting a chance to coach Kolkata Knight Riders or India, looks pretty much impossible at the moment. India and Pakistan had not played a full bilateral Test series since 2007 when Pakistan went to India for three Tests and five One-Day Internationals. They played a short series of three ODIs and two T20Is in India in December 2012, but otherwise, both have faced each other only in the ICC organized events or the Asia Cup.
