Pakistan’s former speed star Shoaib Akhtar said Sunday that there is no reason to drop Imad Wasim from the T20 team for the South Africa tour.
Speaking to the media, Shoaib said Imad should have been part of the T20 team, but chief selector Mohammad Wasim overlooked the all-rounder.
Shoaib praised PCB chief executive Wasim Khan for his efforts to improve Pakistan cricket, but at times he could not because of his limits.
Without naming PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani, Shoaib said that the decision is in jeopardy if a mediocre person sits on top.
“There was no reason to leave Imad Wasim for the T20 series [in South Africa],” he said.
Shoaib also urged the improvement of club cricket and said there is no shortage of talent in Pakistan, but those who used to encourage club cricketers at the local level are no longer there.
He also mentioned some locals from Rawalpindi who supported him to play cricket. He also thanked the management of mining research laboratories for naming the KRL stadium after him.
Shoaib also said the resurgence of the cricket series between India and Pakistan would be beneficial for both countries.
In response to another question about the Kashmir Premier League (KPL), he said he wished eminent people would organize KPL to succeed. “I want the honorable people to jump to create a good story and organize KPL to make KPL non-controversial,” he said.
