Former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar has stated that Virat Kohli has sensibly followed in MS Dhoni’s quiet footsteps and has had a smooth transition. Significantly, Gavaskar had heaped praise on MS Dhoni, narrating one of the humblest-ever events that he witnessed by the former Indian captain.
Virat Kohli is a modern-day legend of the game. He is perhaps the best batsman in the world at the moment across all formats of international cricket. Apart from it, he has the responsibility of leading one of the greatest cricketing nations, the Indian National Cricket Team. Virat has tasted a great deal of success, but he is often labeled as an aggressive and rude brat.
However, Sunil Gavaskar begs to differ from this thought, and he is a firm believer in the fact that Virat Kohli has followed MS Dhoni’s tradition of humility.
Gavaskar also lauded Indian skipper Virat Kohli for rightly following his predecessor Dhoni’s footsteps in such regards.
He wrote, “Virat Kohli has also sat in the economic sector to give his seat to the bowlers who had bowled India to a win in a just-concluded match (during the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under). These are simple gestures, but they go a long way in building team spirit.”
Virat Kohli has also been spectacular as a captain although he hasn’t won an ICC Trophy yet, he has brought the brand of Test cricket back in the Indian circuit. Virat’s India has performed exceptionally well, especially in the past couple of years, all around the world.
Under his captaincy, India won it’s first-ever Test series in Australia because of the inception of cricket in the country. Apart from that, India has won numerous bilateral series considering that Kohli has been made the in-charge, and things seem right for the future of Indian cricket in the coming times.
