Guyana Amazon Warriors Women qualified for the WCPL 2026 final after a seven-wicket victory over Barbados Tridents Women in a rain-reduced eight-over shootout at Kensington Oval. Chasing 70 in the shortened playoff on Wednesday, the Amazon Warriors reached 75/3 in 7.2 overs.
The result sets a championship match against Trinbago Knight Riders Women, who entered the final directly as the league’s top-seeded team. The Tridents, rebranded from the Barbados Royals for the 2026 season, posted 69/4 in their allotted eight overs.
Heavy rain in Barbados forced a significant reduction in overs, leaving both sides with little room for error. Guyana captain Chloe Tryon noted that the toss was a major factor in the outcome. “It was good. First thing the toss. It was obviously good for us. With the rain around, it was…” Tryon said, as her side opted to bowl first to manage the revised target.
Barbados Tridents struggled to accelerate, finishing on 69/4 at a run rate of 8.62. Despite the presence of captain Hayley Matthews, the Tridents could not contain the Amazon Warriors’ chase, which concluded with four balls to spare.
