Sri Lanka has named a 15-member T20I squad for the tour of Pakistan in October 2026. Kusal Mendis returns as captain, while 21-year-old opener Sineth Jayawardena has received his first call-up to the senior side.
The selection follows a 3-0 series defeat against England earlier this year. Former captain Charith Asalanka has been omitted from the traveling party. The selection committee indicated that the squad reflects a restructuring effort following the team’s results in the T20 format during 2026.
Jayawardena enters the squad as a replacement for Pathum Nissanka, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Jayawardena earned his selection following a domestic season in the Major Club T20 tournament where he scored 101 off 52 balls and 82 off 32 balls. He is currently representing Sri Lanka in the Asian Games bronze medal match against Bangladesh on October 3, one day before the national squad is scheduled to depart.
Wanindu Hasaranga is also ruled out of the series due to a lower back injury. Both Hasaranga and Nissanka are targeting the subsequent ODI tri-series for their return to action. In their absence, leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth has been recalled to the 15-man squad.
Kusal Mendis resumes the captaincy after missing the recent tour of England with a hamstring injury. Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera is included in the list, though his participation is strictly subject to fitness clearance.
The three-match T20I series will take place on October 9, 11, and 13, 2026.
