Jamaica Kingsmen advanced to the CPL 2026 Qualifier 2 after securing a nine-wicket win over the Barbados Tridents at Kensington Oval. The victory was anchored by 21-year-old Maaz Sadaqat, who became the youngest player to score a century in Caribbean Premier League history.
Sadaqat finished unbeaten on 112 from 49 deliveries, striking nine fours and eight sixes. His maiden T20 century allowed the Kingsmen to reach the 145-run target with 35 balls to spare. The result ends the Barbados Tridents’ 2026 campaign, while Jamaica moves forward to face the loser of the Qualifier 1 match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons.
The Tridents’ innings began with a collapse that saw them reduced to 30 for 5. Quinton de Kock provided a recovery, scoring 71 off 49 balls to help the side post 144 for 6 after 20 overs. Despite the recovery, the total proved difficult to defend as the Kingsmen’s top order dominated the chase. Analysis of the match indicates a gap in the Tridents’ bowling penetration during the powerplay and middle overs, which prevented them from containing Sadaqat’s scoring rate.
Discussing his batting approach, Sadaqat said: “Every player develops their own rhythm at the crease. For me, the right feel in my hands makes it easier to focus on timing the ball and enjoying the contest.”
The Kingsmen are scheduled to play Qualifier 2 on September 18, 2026, at Kensington Oval. The winner of that fixture will progress to the CPL 2026 final.
