Pakistan’s opening batsman Fakhar Zaman fall from elegance to roughness is absolutely spectacular. He had become one of the most demanded players in the world after his astonishing century in the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy. A couple of months later, he became the first Pakistani player to score a double century in ODIs and also became the fastest batsman to score 1,000 runs in the ODI format.
The left-handed batsman has had a hard time to get going in international cricket in recent months, especially in T20Is.
Last year, he averaged only 6.25 in 8 games with a strike-rate of just 104.16 in T20Is. He was consequently dropped from Pakistan’s T20I squad for the home series against Bangladesh.
Former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf in a recent interview made it clear he knew that Fakhar Zaman would struggle in international cricket because of his technique.
Yousuf revealed that he had advised him to work on his technique as it would come back to haunt him in the future. Mohammad Yousuf recalled how criticizing Fakhar Zaman’s technique after he scored an astonishing century in the final of Champions Trophy against India “was like committing suicide.”
