New Zealand great Scott Styris recently hailed his former Chennai Super Kings teammate, MS Dhoni, as the best finisher. Styris added that he had dominated expert bowlers such as Lasith Malinga, who is often regarded as the best pacer in the Indian Premier League.
The 44-year-old highlighted CSK consistency in the IPL and also pointing out that they groomed the most number of uncapped players for the Indian national team.
Speaking on Star Sports’ new show Cricket Connected, Styris believed that MS Dhoni is widely recognized as one of the best finishers. He is there to take on one of the most deadly bowlers in limited-overs.
He stated, “It’s about the best finisher in the game against the best finisher bowler. Dhoni vs. Malinga and Dhoni owns Malinga.”
While the Chennai has won the IPL on three occasions, they finished as runners-up five times in the 12 editions of the league, and Styris was quick to point out the incredible consistency of the Super Kings.
He stated, “I’ve got four points. It’s about consistency, CSK has never missed the final series, have won the most knockout matches, it’s the expectation and reliance on these IPL teams to produce Indian players, and CSK has produced the most uncapped players for India. It’s a real desire that they have to continue to develop players in that regard.”
