The fab four players continue to trigger a debate in the cricketing world over who is the best batsman right now, which includes Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Rohit Sharma, and now Babar Azam pressing it. All of these players have amazed the world with their sheer consistency with the bat.
The jury is still out on who is the best in the world, but former Australia skipper Michael Clarke thinks that India skipper Virat Kohli is at the top. Speaking on Big Sports Breakfast, the World Cup-winning skipper stated that Virat Kohli is the best across all three formats.
“I think (Virat Kohli is) right now the best batsman across all three formats,” stated Michael Clarke.
“His one day and T20 records are phenomenal, and he’s also found a way to dominate Test cricket. What Kohli and Tendulkar have in common is they love making big hundreds,” he added.
Well, very few would argue with Clarke on this. Virat Kohli is widely regarded as the best in the world at present. At just 31, Virat Kohli has hit a staggering 70 centuries and 104 half-centuries in international cricket. With 43 tons to his name, he is second in the list of most centuries in ODIs. He is currently at the top of the ODI rankings and is at number two in Tests.
Michael Clarke is not the first cricketer to pick Kohli as the best. Before him, the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Michael Vaughan, Viv Richards, and many other big names picked the Indian skipper as the best too.
